How to Get Paid Recommending Tours (Without Being a Travel Agent)
The gatekeepers are gone. If you can recommend a place, you can get paid for the bookings that follow.
The old rule: to earn from travel, you had to sell travel
For decades, getting paid to recommend a trip meant becoming a travel agent. That meant licensing, IATA numbers, host agencies, and taking on the operational headache of actually booking someone's holiday. Most creators, quite reasonably, did not want any of that.
The new rule: you recommend, the operator sells
Modern platforms have split the two roles. A creator recommends. The tour operator handles the booking, the payment, the customer, the refund policy, everything else. The creator earns a share of every booking their audience makes.
This is how KLNK works. A creator signs up for free, picks tours they genuinely recommend, and shares a personal KLNK. When a follower books, the operator pays the commission out of what they would have paid an OTA anyway. The creator's role ends at the recommendation.
What you do not have to do
- Get a travel agent license.
- Buy any inventory or take financial risk.
- Handle payments, refunds, or customer service.
- Chase operators for invoices.
- Learn a booking system.
What you do
- Sign up as a creator (free).
- Pick tours in destinations you talk about anyway.
- Share your KLNK. Bio, story, reel description, DM, blog post.
- Get paid when bookings happen.
What earns the most
Three patterns come up again and again across creators earning consistently from tour recommendations:
- Specific over generic. "Book this exact food tour in Rome" beats "here are 10 things to do in Italy".
- Video over static. A 30-second reel showing the tour converts far better than a carousel or a text list.
- First-person over review-style. "I did this and here's why I loved it" beats "top 5 tours in the city".
What about tax and disclosures?
Treat KLNK income like any other affiliate or creator income: track it, declare it in your local tax return, and disclose the commercial relationship in your content per platform rules ("#ad" or equivalent). KLNK sends you the earnings statements you need.
How to start this week
- Sign up as a creator on KLNK.
- Pick one destination you have posted about in the last month.
- Find the tour you would recommend to a friend without being paid.
- Create your KLNK and add it to your bio.
- Reference it in your next post about that destination.
You just built a channel that pays you for content you were making anyway.
